Coming from Wisco, I can honestly say this is one brewing company and beer we all try to avoid around here, With so many other good craft brews in this state I always tell people to try something else.

The worst thing about this company is that since the Minhas siblings bought the J Huber Brewing Co they've gone so downhill, they were well respected for quite a few years until they started making what they consider "Beer".

Thanks for a nice review on what this truly is, just plain crappy beer....Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06418629866649492318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5738527488860615106.post-23546234651993382872014-02-04T19:43:42.493-08:002014-02-04T19:43:42.493-08:00I agree with you on the Double IPA. On the other hand, while not great, the regular (not double) Boatswain IPA next to it on the shelf is much better and resembles a real IPA if certainly not great. That one I pick up once in a while. When I looked for it last weekend at Trader Joe's they told me that they don't have any Boatswain beers at this point because the "brewery burned down". What's your alibi, Pete? ;) Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02811642623287646865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5738527488860615106.post-64083558846655471372013-11-10T05:34:18.084-08:002013-11-10T05:34:18.084-08:00I agree completely with your assessment, Pete. What an awful purchase. Tasted like syrupy chemicals with a dollop of poop in it. Zero hop aroma, just bitterness. How could someone who's a professional brewer release this to the public? No wonder they hide the name of the actual brewery. It's an embarrassment to beer. But a beer as bad as this one deserves to be made fun of. It sounds like it's just as bad now as it was when I tasted it. I'm surprised they haven't modified the recipe, but I suppose it doesn't matter if people are still buying it because it's cheap. Speaking of cheap, I recently bought a bottle of Boatswain (standard) IPA...I just wanted see. It isn't as bad as the Double IPA, but not very good, either. I may post a review. This is a truly dreadful brew, not even remotely resembling a real IPA. On the positive side, once you get half of it down, the 8.4% ABV makes the second half less of a chore ;-)Uptown Bikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11511891117749613444noreply@blogger.com
